CheriePie'sCross Country RV Road Trip July 2009

This post is 7 years overdue but I wanted to get it up here for prosperity sake.

Mike and I, along with our beautiful (and now dearly departed) bunnies Rudy and Sasia, traveled across the US in our RV when moving from Massachusetts to California.

This is the route we took:

We made several stops and mini-vacations along the way. While passing through North Carolina, we visited with Breeni.

sorry for the face in pic 2, I think I was getting aggravated with Mike because he takes such lousy pictures. LOL

Getting through Texas seemed to take forever, but we got to hook up with more a couple more BookObsessers. We stopped in Paris, TX and met up with Needmorezoloft and Elsi. Unfortunately I forgot to snap pics while Elsi was there, but I managed to snag a few of NMZ and her daughter Jordan before they got away. :D

We also stopped in Philadelphia (PA), Memphis (TN), Atlanta (GA), and Santa Fe (NM) (plus a couple other uneventful overnight stops) taking just over 2 weeks to drive from the East Coast to the West.

You can find the full set of pictures from our journey at Cherie's & Mike's Big Adventure Flickr album.

July 2008 Massachusetts Meetup

Bad me for not getting these into the blog earlier where they're easier to find again instead of just posting them in the original meetup thread as I did.

Mass Meetup 2/17/08

Great fun all around when (from L-R) Cherie(Pie), Anjanette (Apolonia), Melissa (rootmartin), Joy (chambejd), and Liz(abeth86) hooked up for our first ever BookObsessed Mass. Meetup at the Olive Garden in Marlborough.

Notoriously absent were terra57 (sick w/flu), herbwench (also sick with flu), and Ixion (celebrating Chinese New Year in Boston). They better make it for the next one, planned for sometime in April up in Salem. w00t w00t! Celebrating 2

What happens when 16 obsessers are in one room?

Swapping madness ensues! This Columbus meetup brought Obsessers from near and far and good times were had by all.

I arrived a little before noon on Sunday. I saw a small group standing in the parking lot and decided to ask if they were there for BookObsessed. Thank goodness they were - gothamgal, BluesMan, and TinkEsq. Shortly afterwards, both cowgirl-up and Thursday5 joined us. We moved to the other side of the parking lot and found Pepper and Rebecca. Ri joined us with little Makaio.

Lunch was at a yummy place called Mozart's. The sandwich was good and the dessert was better. We stayed there for quite a while and then went to Ri's house where (eventually) the others joined us. Swapping madness ensued! As well as pizza at one point.

Then book shopping for some of us. First we stayed at the Half Price Books until they closed and kicked us out. Then off to The Book Loft which was just an amazing place - room after room after room of books. Several of us got lost! I only wish there had been more bargain books - though I was extremely happy to get an autographed copy of a wishlist book - The Ice Dragon by George R.R. Martin.
I was tired afterwards (didn't get much sleep after staying up all night to read Harry Potter) so went to the hotel and to sleep. I woke up early the next morning (this morning) and decided to get back on the road. And now I'm home.

Thanks so much to everyone who got to make it. It was fantastic meeting you! And thank you especially to Ri for hosting the swaps at her place.
So here are the pictures:

Rhonda (Sand) held on to Makaio during most of the swapping:

Pepper, reading off the pizza menu to us. Sadly, I didn't catch her when she was turning around to give us the "be quiet" face. *grin*:

(Tink and BluesMan were sitting on the couch next to me, so I didn't get any pictures of them. Sorry!)

I think that was BountifulPots who's cheek you can see peeking in between Rhonda and Inko.

Noumena had already went up to bed, and the bar had closed, so I brought down the bottle of Malibu from the room, someone else brought some vodka, and we mixed up our own drinks!

Hilton Head

Got home on Thursday night from Charleston.

We went down to Hilton Head and stayed at a beautiful resort. We had a view of the ocean and swimming pool and lots of lagoons. The ocean was a bit too cool to swim in but the weather was perfect. 75 and sunny with a little breeze coming of the ocean. Hilton Head has lots of bike paths which were nice until I had a major upset (:

I relaxed and just enjoyed life. What could be better :)

Hilton Head will be on a list of places I will go back to

Ok, here's my post on the blog...

Wow! It's already been a week. Oh how time flew! It was such a great time, I can't wait to meet all of you again. Ok, let me start off with all the books I happened to swap...

Thanks for a great swap everyone... and some pictures..

On Saturday we had a little cross word puzzle... I got a 'good 4 u' from Cherie after we all finished it. :-D

Oh and some wild releasing with Nou, Cherie, and Sci...

Some additional Reverse Scavenger Hunt Photos

An additional picture to go along with Nou's Reverse Scavenger 2: Somewhere Representative of Charleston release.

My "Somewhere Literary" release. If you look closely, or view the full-size, you can see the book Walden tucked into the tree. (Unfortunately I forgot to register that one. *blush*)

Additional photos for me and Nou's "Somewhere Wet" release. Here Turtle is preparing to leave the books.

My book is A Yellow Raft in Blue Water. Nou's post for her release can be found here

a wider view... quite pretty. :)

Before we even left the scene, this guy had grabbed our books. I caught a picture of him walking off with them. You can see the plastic bag in his left hand, and the back of my book A Yellow Raft in Blue Water

Supplement to Nou's Somewhere Pink Release. As we were walking away, I turned around to snap a picture of a woman who'd sat down & picked up one of the books already.

Pics for Nou's Somewhere near a flag release. This is closer up but didn't quite show the flags...

...so instead I got a wide-angle view as well.

My "Somewhere especially Charlestonian" release was done at the Historic Charleston Foundation Headquarters.

A closer up of the book I left there.

Supplemental picture to me and Nou's Somewhere by a Cannon releases. My release was Wild Fire by Nelson Demille on the left.

My "Somewhere Cold" release was done Saturday night after our swap dinner at Sticky Fingers. I left On Thin Ice by Cherry Adair on this bench in front of Maggie Moo's Ice Cream Parlour.
